My first Twitter Anniversary...
Today I celebrate my first Twitter anniversay. It was on March 11, 2009 that I signed up for a Twitter account and haven't regret it for one single moment. To be honest when I heard about Twitter 3 years ago I just didn't get it. People telling the world what they are eating or texting other trivial information. That was how I perceived Twitter. Then one year ago, I saw Marjolein Hoekstra (CleverClogs) on a Dutch TV-show called "Mooi weer De Leeuw" talking passionately about Twitter. And she made some solid remarks. So that night I decided to give it a go.
As none of my friends were on Twitter and I didn't know any Dutch tweeps at that time, I decided to follow the usual suspects like Guy Kawasaki and others. That is by the way the reason why - although I'm a Dutchman - my tweets are in English. Slowly I gained more followers from all over the world - from Australia to the West Coast of the USA. Making it a 24/7 experience. I've made some great friends and met amazing people on Twitter. In fact they are my number one news source. They share great content. And watching TV has never been so much fun - even if a show completely sucks - their comments are hilarious. If you are sceptic about Twitter - like I was - I can only say "give it a go". You have to try it to experience its power and fun. Maybe it's not your cup of tea, that's okay, but chances are you'll get hooked. To conclude, I would like to thank all my followers for bearing with me and all the people I follow for sharing such great content. I love you all! Henry Soenarko
